Most dishwasher call-outs fall into a few groups: it will not drain, it leaves dishes dirty, it does not heat or dry, it leaks, or it will not start at all. Each has a short list of likely causes, and a good engineer tests them in order with a meter rather than replacing parts on a guess.

Hard water is a big factor in this part of London. Scale builds up on the heating element, in the spray arms and around the sump, and a machine run without salt or rinse aid wears faster. Many drainage faults also start at the filter or the sink waste rather than in the machine itself.

This is one of the jobs listed under our appliance services. Where a fault crosses into another trade, the same company handles it rather than passing you to a separate contractor.

Common dishwasher faults and what they usually point to

  • Will not drain: usually a blocked filter, sump or drain pump, or a kinked drain hose
  • Dishes still dirty: blocked spray arms, a weak wash pump or scale on the jets
  • Not heating or drying: a failed heating element, thermostat or temperature sensor
  • Leaking onto the floor: a worn door seal, loose inlet or drain hose, or a cracked sump
  • Will not start: a faulty door latch, control board or a tripped supply
  • Error code or constant beeping: often the float switch, a sensor or a water-supply problem

What a dishwasher repair visit covers

  • Fault diagnosis with a meter, not guesswork
  • Filter, sump and spray-arm checks and cleaning
  • Drain pump, wash pump and heating element replacement
  • Door seals, hinges and latches
  • Inlet valve, hoses and plumbing connections
  • A full test cycle before we hand the machine back
How the job runs

From your first call to the finished job

  • Book and describe the symptom

Tell us the make, model and what the machine does, including any code on the display. That lets the engineer bring the parts most likely to be needed rather than making a second trip.

  • On-site diagnosis

The machine is isolated, pulled out and tested. Codes are read, components are checked electrically, and the sump and pump are opened where the symptom points that way. You are told what is wrong before anything is replaced.

  • Repair or honest advice

Many faults are fixed on the first visit from van stock. Where the part is uneconomic against the value of the machine, we say so plainly instead of pushing a repair that will not pay for itself.

  • Test and hand back

A full cycle is run to prove fill, wash, heat and drain. Hoses and seals are checked for weeps, and you get a plain-English note of what was done.

Filters, pumps, spray arms and hard water

A dishwasher that drains slowly or leaves grit on the glasses has usually lost flow somewhere between the filter and the spray arms. Clearing the filter and sump fixes a surprising number of faults; where it does not, the drain pump or wash pump is the next suspect. Leaks are traced to the source before anything is replaced, because a dripping hose and a failing seal look the same on the kitchen floor.

Safe to try yourself, and what is not

Safe to try: clean the filter, check the salt and rinse aid, make sure the spray arms turn freely and the drain hose is not kinked. Not safe: removing panels or touching wiring while the machine is connected. Switch it off at the wall and call us.

Common questions

Is it worth repairing my dishwasher?

In most cases a pump, element, seal or latch repair costs far less than a new machine. If the repair would not make sense for the age of the dishwasher, we tell you on the visit before any work starts.

Which brands do you repair?

We repair most domestic brands, including Bosch, Siemens, Neff, Beko, Hotpoint, Indesit, AEG, Samsung, LG and Miele, in both built-in and freestanding models.

My dishwasher will not drain. What can I check first?

Switch it off, take out and clean the filter at the bottom of the tub, and check the drain hose is not kinked. If water still stands in the base, the drain pump may be blocked or faulty.

Do you fix integrated dishwashers?

Yes. We remove and refit integrated machines carefully so the kitchen door panel and plinth go back as they were.

Which areas do you cover?

We cover the HA, UB, TW, WD, NW and W postcode areas across West and North West London.
