Shower Installation Cost in London

26/10/2026

Shower installation cost depends mainly on the type of shower (electric, mixer or pumped), whether you are swapping like for like or fitting a shower where there was none, and how much pipework, electrical and tiling work the room needs. Home Utility Ltd installs showers across London and surrounding areas and gives you the price before any work starts. Call 07983 511772.

How much does a shower installation cost?

There is no single price, because the cost is set by what your bathroom needs rather than by the shower itself. Replacing an existing shower with a similar model on the same supply is usually the simplest job. Fitting a new shower where there was none, moving it to a different wall, or changing from one type of shower to another involves more work, and that is what moves the price.

Prices also vary with location. The fair way to price a shower installation is for an engineer to look at the room and the water and electrical supply first, explain the options, and agree the price with you before starting. That is how we work.

What affects the cost of installing a shower?

Cost factorWhy it changes the price
Type of showerElectric, mixer and pumped showers connect differently. An electric shower needs a suitable electrical supply; a mixer needs hot and cold water at suitable pressure.
Like-for-like or newSwapping a shower on the existing supply takes less work than installing one in a new position.
Electrical workAn electric shower may need a new or upgraded circuit. Electrical work in a bathroom has to meet safety rules and be carried out by a qualified electrician.
PipeworkNew or rerouted hot, cold and waste pipes add labour and materials.
Water pressureLow pressure may mean a different type of shower, a pump or other changes to the system.
Tray, enclosure and screenA new shower tray, enclosure or bath screen adds parts and fitting time.
Waterproofing and tilingWalls around a new shower need to be waterproofed and finished before use.
VentilationAdding or replacing an extractor fan helps control steam and damp.
Parts and materialsThe shower unit and fittings you choose are charged separately from labour where required.

Electric, mixer or pumped shower: which costs more to install?

The cheapest shower to buy is not always the cheapest to install. What matters most is how well the shower matches the supply you already have.

  • Electric shower: heats cold mains water itself, so it works whatever your hot water system. Installation cost depends on whether the existing electrical supply is suitable or a new circuit is needed.
  • Mixer shower: blends hot and cold water from your existing system. Cost depends on the pipework needed and whether your water pressure is suitable.
  • Pumped or power shower: boosts low-pressure supplies. It needs both pipework and an electrical connection for the pump, and is only suitable for certain hot water systems.

An engineer can tell you which suits your home once they have checked the water system and electrics. As we deal with plumbing, electrical and heating work in house, one visit can cover the water side and the electrical side together.

Is it cheaper to repair or replace a shower?

Repair can often be the more cost-effective option, depending on the age, condition and fault. A shower that runs too hot or cold, loses pressure or keeps tripping the electrics needs proper fault diagnosis first, because replacing a part, or the whole unit, will not always fix the problem. If the shower is old, the fault keeps coming back, or you want a different type of shower, replacement may make more sense. Our engineer will explain the options and costs so you can decide.

Can I install a shower myself?

Simple jobs such as changing a shower head or hose are fine to do yourself. Connecting a shower to the water supply or the electrics is different: electrical work in a bathroom must meet strict safety rules and should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and poorly sealed pipework can leak behind walls and cause damage long before you see it. Professional installation is usually the safer and more cost-effective choice.
